Tanzräume International Dance Festival invites the Hosaka Ballet Group. As part of this year's program, Tanzräume International Dance Festival welcomes the Japanese Hosaka Ballet Group as an international guest. The artist Toko Nakamoto will develop and present a new work specifically for the festival. With this collaboration, the festival places a special emphasis on artistic exchange with Japan and opens up new perspectives on contemporary dance forms. About the piece: Japanese kimonos are far more than clothing; they embody meaning, history, and social codes. The magnificent long-sleeved robes represent unmarried women, while the floor-length, flowing silhouettes of geishas embody a distinct, traditional aesthetic. Based on the character of Komako from Yasunari Kawabata's novel "Snowland," Toko Nakamoto embarks on an artistic exploration of culturally shaped images of femininity. At its core is the question of how female identity is formed, inscribed, and simultaneously embodied through societal expectations. In a multifaceted combination of Japanese dance, music and visual art, a choreographic exploration of the female body unfolds as a site of memory, projection and lived experience.

DIP Workshop: Move differently. Think differently. EMPTY FLOOR – imPerfect Dancers Company (Pisa, Italy) Empty Floor is a powerful and poetic dance production by the Italian imPerfect Dancers Company, inspired by the theme of Alzheimer's disease. The piece goes far beyond a traditional stage production: it breaks taboos, makes the invisible visible, and offers a sensitive approach to a disease that affects many but is rarely discussed openly. Through a powerful fusion of contemporary dance and performative storytelling, a moving portrait emerges of what it means to live with Alzheimer's – both for those affected and their loved ones. Raw yet delicate, a multifaceted space unfolds between memory, loss, and human connection. A particular strength of the production lies in the inclusion of local senior women who share the stage with professional dancers. This intergenerational encounter creates authentic, touching moments and lends the piece extraordinary emotional depth. More than 400 seniors worldwide have already participated in this special project. Empty Floor is not just a performance – it is an experience that moves, connects, and leaves a lasting impression. Dance Signs combines movement, perception, and graphic expression into a unique artistic experience. The focus is on the relationship between body, space, line, and movement. Through simple exercises, improvisations, and creative processes, new approaches to movement and perception emerge. The workshop invites participants to experience dance not only physically but also to explore movement visually and through drawing. Open to all who are interested in movement, dance, art, and creative processes. Prior knowledge is welcome but not required.
